Primula elatior

Primula elatior is the true form of Oxlip. Highly scented, dark eyed, pale yellow flowers appear during the spring, their flower stalks arise from tidy rosettes of almost oblong-shaped rough textured green leaves.

As a British native this primula lends its self to naturalising in open woodland areas. Oxlip gives off a divine fragrance which makes it a wonderful choice for a sensory garden. This low maintenance perennial  will provide an early food source to encourage bees and other pollinators into your garden. Primula elatior should flourish providing they have a moisture retentive soil in sun or partial shade.
