Commonly known as Cowslip, Primula veris 'Sunset Shades' is a clump-forming, semi-evergreen perennial with a basal rosette of light green leaves and large heads of fragrant, tubular flowers in warm shades of yellow, orange, and red.
Happiest in good or moist soil in partial shade, it will tolerate sun if kept moist. It may disappear in late summer only to reappear when the weather cools in autumn — a perfectly normal part of its cycle. It will seed around itself if happy, and lifting and splitting the clump every few years will help prevent overcrowding.
