Pulmonaria ‘Shrimps on the Barbie’

This semi-evergreen perennial has coral-pink flowers in spring and silver spotted foliage which looks great almost all year. Cut the entire plant back after flowering to encourage plenty of fresh new foliage. Best in partial or dappled shade, it likes moist but well-drained soil, do not allow it to get too dry. The silver markings on the foliage shown up well in the shade and add another layer of interest to what could become a dull area.

The flowers are highly attractive to beneficial pollinators and appear from March to May. Use plenty of mulch around but not touching the plants in autumn to increase the levels of humus in the soil. This plant is a wonderful ground cover plant and is also great for the front of shaded borders and under planting for shrubs and trees.
