Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
Clusters of gorgeous purple orchid-like flowers with a white inner appear during late summer on stout, erect stems. Green, strap-shaped leaves have a prominent venation.
Roscoea prefers humus-rich soil that is fairly free draining and slightly acid, in a shady or partially shady location. This stunning plant would look fantastic in a woodland situation or planted on shady banks and slopes, as well as in your flower borders. Roscoea emerges in very late spring, be careful not to dig this plant up by accident.
H5: hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters (-15 to -10)
