Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
Slender spikes of lilac-pink flowers open upwards from base to tip on upright stems above aromatic mid-green foliage. The maroon bracts give this form of Balkan Clary a warm red tint, and it combines beautifully with lime greens, dark reds, and soft oranges. It holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Its bushy, upright form adds structure to a border, particularly when contrasted with more rounded or mounding plants. A striking choice for a Mediterranean, courtyard, or gravel garden, it will also tolerate coastal conditions. Bees find it irresistible throughout its long flowering season. To keep the flowers coming, snip out spent stems just above a pair of buds or side shoots to encourage fresh growth. It thrives in free-draining but moisture-retentive soil in full sun, though it will cope with light shade.
