A compact Salvia patens 'Pink Ice' with large, pale pink flowers on fresh green stems with pointed, oval leaves. Introduced in 2008, this unusual pink form was specifically bred to be bushier and shorter than its parent plant.
Ideal for the front of a sheltered border or a container in a sunny spot. Tolerant of sea air, it also suits the milder climate of a coastal garden. Half-hardy, it needs protection over winter in colder areas — a deep layer of mulch and retention of stems until all threat of frost has passed works well. It performs best in good, well-drained soil in full sun.
