Salvia patens 'Pink Ice'

A compact Salvia with large, pale pink flowers on fresh green stems with pointed, oval leaves. Introduced in 2008, this unusual pink form of Salvia patens was specifically bred to be bushier and shorter than its parent plant.

Ideal for the front of a more sheltered border or a container in a sunny spot. Tolerant of sea air, it also suits the milder climate of a coastal garden. Half hardy, it does need protection over winter in colder areas. A deep layer of mulch and retention of stems until all threat of frosts have passed works well. 'Pink Ice' performs best in a good, well-drained soil in a position enjoying full sun.
