Commonly known as Prostrate Rosemary, Salvia rosmarinus Prostrata Group is a compact, mat-forming evergreen shrub native to the Mediterranean. Linear, needle-like, aromatic foliage sits beneath small, pale blue flowers in spring. To remove spent flowerheads, simply ruffle the plant and they will drop off.
It needs a sheltered position in full sun with well-drained soil and is ideal for coastal locations and sunny wall-side borders prone to drought. An obvious choice for a herb garden, it would also suit a sensory or perfume garden, and makes effective low-maintenance ground cover.
