Sanguisorba tenuifolia var. alba

The summer display of this stately Sanguisorba is quite stunning.  Elegant tall stems emerge from a low mound of fern-like foliage bearing slender white bottlebrush flowers that nod in the breeze. 

Ideal for planting alongside ponds or streams where it can be combined with other moisture loving perennials such as Hemerocallis and Iris ensata, within a small garden its light airy habit can be used to great effect to create height without density.  Preferring a moisture-retentive but unsaturated soil in full sun, it can also tolerate a little shade. 

It will benefit from an application of mulch during the autumn and may need staking in exposed areas.
