Sanguisorba tenuifolia var. alba

The summer display of this stately Sanguisorba is quite stunning. Elegant tall stems rise from a low mound of fern-like foliage, bearing slender white bottlebrush flowers that nod in the breeze.

Ideal alongside ponds or streams, it combines beautifully with other moisture-loving perennials such as Hemerocallis and Iris ensata. In smaller gardens, its light, airy habit creates height without density. It prefers a moisture-retentive but well-drained soil in full sun, though it will tolerate a little shade.

Mulch in autumn for best results; may need staking in exposed positions.
