Masses of small, starry flowers with white petals, blotched red at their base, are held in clusters on arching stems above a slowly advancing mat of evergreen rosettes with light green leaves.
This prolific Saxifraga flowers from late spring into summer, completely transforming its architectural form into a starry froth of blossom. To appreciate it at its best, grow it in a gravel or rock garden, or in a trough raised above ground level. It thrives in sun or partial shade in very free-draining, non-acidic soil of reasonable fertility, provided the roots are kept moist.
