Masses of lavender-blue flowers dance on slender stems above low mounds of grey-green finely cut, oval foliage. A much-loved cottage garden plant, the soft haze of delicate blue flowers is produced from midsummer to early autumn and is irresistible to bees, butterflies and hoverflies.
Its informal style looks wonderful planted in drifts through a flower meadow or in loose groups within a gravel garden. If space is limited, it makes an excellent long-flowering container plant. A good cut flower too — regular deadheading will prolong the display. Thrives in fairly fertile, free-draining, non-acidic soil in full sun.
