Scabiosa caucasica 'Fama Deep Blue'

Large, deep blue, ruffled flowerheads, with centres of tightly packed pinhead flowers, gently wave on narrow stems, above mounds of deeply divided, green foliage.Tall, with intensely blue flowers, this scabious really draws the eye, whether woven in drifts through a border, or combined with grasses prairie style.

Much beloved of bees and butterflies, it also makes a fabulous ingredient for a flower meadow or cut flower garden. For a subtle combination mix it with purples, whites, apricots and pinks, or for more contrast, reds, yellows and oranges. Perfect for a chalky soil, 'Fama Deep Blue' performs best in an alkaline to neutral, free draining soil that is fairly fertile and avoids being overly damp in the winter.
