Masses of small, soft yellow flowers like pincushions bob and weave on narrow stems above low, mounding, feathery grey-green foliage. This recently introduced scabious is highly rated for its prolific and long flowering performance from early summer into autumn.
More compact than many scabious, it nonetheless delivers impact through its combination of texture, lightness and colour — stunning edging a path or planted in groups at the front of an informal bed, where it will attract bees and butterflies in their droves. Capitalise on its drought tolerance by planting it in drifts through a gravel garden. Good for containers and an excellent cut flower. Undemanding, it thrives in any free-draining soil in full sun.
