Commonly known as 'Knapweed', Serratula seoanei produces masses of small, purple, fuzzy thistle flowers on wiry stems during autumn, over green, finely cut foliage, followed by attractive straw-like seed heads.

This ankle-high perennial is perfect for the front of a well-drained, sunny border. As it provides glorious but compact late season colour in the garden, it is often used for edging borders and pathways. It's seed heads continue to deliver an architectural presence over the winter and are very popular with birds. It is a great choice for gravel gardens and naturalistic planting schemes. It performs best in a free draining, fertile soil in full sun.
