Stachys byzantina 'Silver Carpet'

'Silver Carpet' forms an ankle-high, spreading sea of furry, silver-grey leaves with few flowers. More intensely silver-white than the species, this very tactile foliage plant makes excellent groundcover.

Designers frequently use it in large drifts on hot, dry, free-draining sites — slopes and banks where it will bulk up quickly. Being small in scale, it also looks very pretty edging a path or planted in a container alongside contrasting neighbours. It dies back slightly in winter but returns strongly in spring, performing best in free-draining, fairly fertile soil that doesn’t sit wet.
