A close relative of Devil’s Bit Scabious, ‘Frosted Pearl’ has similar globe-like flowers which open from pink buds to reveal white petals with a hint of lavender-blue, held over clumps of mid-green leaves. Slightly denser in form with lots of branching flowering stems, its display starts earlier in midsummer and can last until September.
Highlight its naturalistic grace by planting it in drifts through a damp meadow combined with Silene flos-cuculi, Lythrum and Molinia, attracting bees and other pollinators in droves. Its airiness is useful too for adding a layer of delicate transparency, allowing plants behind to be seen. For best results grow in moist soil in sun or partial shade.
