Thalictrum 'Black Stockings'

‘Black Stockings’ really stands out from the crowd with clouds of deep lavender-purple starry flowers held high in midsummer on near-black stems above billowing green aquilegia-like foliage.

Tall and willowy, its delicate pops of vivid colour are perfect for adding valuable transparency and layering in the garden in midsummer, its lush foliage providing an interesting background foil to earlier flowering plants or bolder foliage such as Physocarpus opulifolius. Perfect for light or dappled shade in a nutrient-rich, moist but well-drained soil, this meadow rue cultivar can tolerate more sun too, but not full sun. Introduced by Terra Nova Nurseries, Oregon, in 2016.
