'Hewitt's Double' has sprays of stunning, lilac-purple, double flowers during late summer. These blooms burst from masses of small spherical buds, held high on the erect, burgundy stems.
Humus-rich soil is required for this perennial to thrive. A border in partial shade and in a sheltered location is the ideal position for this Thalictrum , which is initially slow to establish but well worth the wait. Once your clumps are large enough 'Hewitts Double' can be divided during the spring.
T.delavyii 'Hewitt's Double' appears very late in the spring and is prone to being either dug up accidentally or trodden on, it is a wise precaution to mark where the plants are.
