From late summer to early autumn Tricyrtis produces distinctive white flowers with purple spots smothering the petals, these flowers appear in clusters at the top of upright stems. These upright stems bare broad green lance-shaped leaves with dark spots.
Toad Lily is an intriguing plant for shady or partially shady borders with moisture retentive but free-draining, humus-rich soil. In very cold areas of the UK a layer of mulch will help protect the rootstock over winter and increase the chances of flowering prior to the first winter frosts.
