Mid-green, trifoliate leaves provide the classic clover shape, while rounded silvery buds open to feathery candles of burgundy-red blooms in early summer. An ornamental clover of real charm, Trifolium rubens is a close relative of the familiar meadow clover.
Excellent as underplanting for shrubs and roses, or at the middle-front of a sunny border. It thrives in moist but well-drained, fertile soil and is a fantastic bee attractant — making it a natural choice for wildlife and pollinator gardens. In a good year, the plant will produce a second flush of flowers.
