Trollius × cultorum is one of the delights of a late spring garden, never failing to raise a smile on a cold grey day. In our opinion, 'Lemon Queen' is one of the best on the market, with delicate lemon-yellow globe flowers that float on willowy stems above divided green foliage.
Bred in the 1920s, this graceful cottage garden stalwart is prized as much for its reliability as its elegant looks. A good candidate for a bog garden, it prefers moist soil in sun or partial shade, combining brilliantly with blues, purples and whites — though equally stunning allowed to develop into large clumps on its own. Regular deadheading helps to extend the floral display.
