This lovely cultivar has tall branched spires of apricot flowers with small plum markings and a lavender eye. The foliage forms a basal rosette. A reliably hardy, semi-evergreen perennial, it is best placed in full sun to dappled shade in moist but well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil, it dislikes prolonged winter wet. The flowers appear from July to September. Remove spent stems to encourage a second flush of flowers on new growth.
Mullein moth caterpillars can appear in early June, but gently remove them to other parts of the garden where they can do no harm. Be careful not to remove the basal rosette in autumn to allow the plant to flower again the following year. When planting ensure the plants are not too close together and to allow good airflow. Can self-seed if the flower stems are left in place and also makes a long lasting cut flower.
