Verbascum (Cotswold Group) 'Cotswold Beauty' is a stately short-lived perennial bearing tall spires of warm apricot flowers with distinctive purple stamens throughout summer. A basal rosette of broadly ovate green leaves sits beneath the tall flowering stems. Removing spent stems to the base will encourage a second flush of bloom.
Commonly known as Mullein, Verbascum thrives in any reasonable, free-draining soil with a neutral to alkaline pH — making it ideal for gravel gardens, coastal plantings, and sunny beds and borders. Propagate by root cuttings to build up your stock of this reliable cottage garden classic.
