Verbena rigida — Slender Vervain — is a perennial commonly grown as an annual, producing clusters of fragrant purple flowers on branching stems throughout summer. Tolerant of a wide range of soils provided drainage is reasonable, it thrives in a sunny position and is an excellent choice for south-facing borders, gravel gardens and path edging.
A prolific self-seeder — deadhead regularly if you wish to limit spread. Drought-tolerant once established and much loved by pollinators.
