A great spring garden favourite, much beloved for its deep purple goblet-like blooms that stand high above other early season flowers adding punctuation to a border. It combines beautifully with so many other colours, oranges, pinks, yellows and blues plus of course white for a classic combination. It thrives and will come back in a rich, free-draining soil, but if you cannot offer this, it works well combined with other bulbs in a bulb lasagne or planter.
