Hosta sieboldiana var. elegans
Height x Spread: 60cm x 60cm
Commonly known as the Giant Blue Hosta, this herbaceous perennial has ovate (heart-shaped) foliage that forms a clump. The puckered leaves are blue/grey in colour with lilac nodding bell-shaped flowers.
H. sieboldiana var. elegans prefers a deep, humus-rich moisture-retentive soil. Sheltered locations in the shade or semi-shade are best but Hostas can tolerate sun if the soil stays reliably damp throughout the summer months. Woodland gardens or under-planting of trees or shrubs are suitable for this perennial. If you don't have a suitable soil Hostas make fantastic specimen plants when grown in pots and placed in a shady spot.
