Description

Hydrangea arborescens 'Annabelle'

Height x Spread: 150cm x 120cm

'Annabelle' is perhaps one of the easiest and most obliging Hydrangeas you can grow, it is a deciduous shrub which will grow in sun or partial shade, in free-draining soils where the overall size of the plant will be smaller or in fertile moisture-retentive soils where it's flowers will reach their maximum size.

The large spherical flower heads are white in colour during late summer, once the flowers have faded Annabelle continues to provide interest throughout the autumn and winter with her attractive seed heads adding structure to the garden.

Prune in the spring; firstly remove any dead wood, crossing branches which may rub and very thin spindly growth. Then cut back last seasons growth to a pair of active buds,  ideally no lower than 25cm in height. If you wish you can leave the stems taller but we would suggest no more than 60cm. This will create a framework for the new growth.

Commonly know as Sevenbark
