Allium zebdanense
Height x Spread: 20cm x 20cm
A delightful spring flowering Allium, it forms a loose umbel of nodding cool white bell-shaped flowers, each set with lime green stamens, above a mound of arching fresh green strappy foliage.
It is one of those plants that every gardener should know about as it can tolerate dry shade but grows best in full sun in a light, free draining soil. Perfect for underplanting trees and evergreen shrubs in thin soil, where nothing else seems to grow, capitalise on its lovely naturalistic style by planting it in large drifts up a bank or through a gravel garden. Come the summer though, it will die back completely only to reappear the following spring. So remember where you have planted it as you may dig it up in error. Native to most regions in the Middle East it is hardy throughout most of the UK.
