Althaea officinalis
Height and Spread: 150cm x 100cm
Althaea officinalis is commonly known as Marsh Mallow. This native herbaceous perennial boasts small dish shaped lilac pink flowers held aloft on tall stems above hairy grey-green foliage. Blooming from mid summer through to the autumn, it is a good choice for a wildlife or informal cottage garden style attracting bees and butterflies in their droves. But with its tendency to self seed, you may find it gently travelling around your garden over the years.
Tolerant of most soils, Marsh Mallow flourishes in a fertile, good soil especially in full sun, but can also tolerate partial shade too.
