Sprays of delicate pale pink flowers hover demurely above crinkled heart-shaped olive green foliage. Perfect for drier areas in the shade, this gem flowers from August through October injecting much needed colour when some gardens can start to flag.
Low maintenance and fairly unfussy, it will happily grow in that difficult spot in your garden below trees if the soil is well-drained, but why not use it creatively as part of a shady green living wall. It prefers a humus rich free-draining soil in the shade or partial shade away from afternoon sun.
Hardiness rating H2: tolerant of low temperatures, but not surviving being frozen (1 to 5)
