Iris 'Benton Caramel'
Height x Spread: 90cm x 50cm
'Benton Caramel' is an Iris that you are likely to fall truly, madly and deeply in love with. One of our favourite colour combinations in a bearded Iris, its flowers boast ruffled rosy chestnut standards that contrast deliciously with rich darkest mahogany falls all set off with a golden yellow beard. This gorgeous early summer display is further enhanced by striking fresh green sword-like foliage that lasts well after the flowers have faded.
One of the series of Iris bred by Cedric Morris the famous artist and plantsman at his house 'Benton End' in Hadleigh, Sussex, its less showy more graceful silhouette perfectly chimes with cottage garden or more naturalistic planting schemes. It loves to be baked in full sun in a free draining soil. To add to the opulence combine it with Foeniculum vulgare 'Purpureum', Centaurea 'Jordy' and Geum 'Totally Tangerine'.
