Cichorium intybus
Height x Spread: 150cm x 60cm
Commonly known as Chicory, this perennial herb has a clump-forming habit. Rosettes of toothed leaves grow at the base of tall upright stems which bear light blue flowers during the summer.
The foliage of this edible plant is used in salads, whilst the large taproot is used as a coffee flavouring, making it perfect for a herb garden. It also adds architectural value to ornamental gardens. Full sun and poor well-drained soils are required in order for this plant to flourish. It will freely self-seed.
