The flowers bloom from July to August and are very attractive to butterflies. It needs sun or part shade in neutral to acidic soil which is moist but well drained. Ensure the plant does not sit in excessive winter wet.
Each plant sends up numerous flower stems which means it looks wonderful planted in drifts. It also makes a good addition to wildlife, cottage, informal, city and courtyard gardens or woodland edges.
