Euphorbia characias subsp. wulfenii
Height x Spread: 125cm x 75cm
Architectural and very striking, Euphorbia characias subsp. wulfenii is widely admired for its bold clumps of brush-like stems with narrow glaucous foliage and chunky clusters of lime green bracts that appear in spring.
Being evergreen it is a great choice for providing strong year round structure in a garden, even in winter, only to be rewarded with vibrant colour that really sings out in the spring. Hailing from the mediterranean, it prefers a very sunny spot in light, free draining soil and would suit a gravel garden as well as more formal situations. Easy to grow and low maintenance, wear gloves to prune flowered stems down to ground level in September.
The sap is a harmful irritant to skin and eyes.
