Hylotelephium 'Red Cauli'
Height x Spread: 25cm x 25cm
Clusters of cherry red, star-like flowers are carried on fleshy dark red stems, with dusky purple-green leathery leaves. 'Red Cauli' boasts flowers which are a sensational crimson red. Bees and butterflies love it. Avoid cutting it back in late autumn as the seed heads last upright through winter.
This compact, clumping perennial is a very good candidate for a gravel garden, where its combination of colour and silhouette will be highlighted to perfection. It also looks great planted in containers, or at the very front of a sunny border. If it flops in your soil, cut it back by half in late May to promote stronger stems. It grows best in fairly fertile, free draining soil in a position enjoying full sun.
