Arching stems stand above a low mound of fresh green foliage, bearing pea-like lilac flowers during the spring.
A gorgeous plant to be grown either towards the front of flower borders or as an under-planter for shrubs - it will thrive in open woodland gardens or in an open sunny position. Lathyrus vernus requires a humus-rich, moist yet free-draining soil.
All parts of the plant are toxic.
