Allium 'Lavender Bubbles
Height x Spread: 30cm x 50cm
Calling all Allium lovers - 'Lavender Bubbles' is definitely one to make room for in the garden. Flowering in late summer, this recent introduction from North America takes over the display baton from Allium 'Millenium', blooming three to four weeks later and lasting until early autumn. Slightly more compact, its spherical flowerheads are by comparison a deeper duskier purple which contrast well with the spreading clumps of blue-green foliage that it forms over a number of years.
Its tolerance of full sun and a poor, free draining soil make it a striking addition to any rock or gravel garden perhaps planted in graceful but meandering drifts, its nectar-rich blooms luring the bees and butterflies in. Easy to grow and said to be deer, rabbit and drought resistant, its flowers also cut and dry well for arrangements.
