Nepeta 'Chettle Blue'
Height x Spread: 75cm x 75cm
Nepeta are stalwarts of sunny, pollinator friendly gardens and are incredibly hardy, most surviving down to -20 degrees C. They are well known for inducing euphoria in cats due to their aromatic foliage. They also attract many beneficial pollinators to the garden as they are great suppliers of nectar and pollen. 'Chettle Blue' has ovate, toothed grey-green aromatic foliage and upright stems of tubular blue flowers with purple calyces throughout summer and into autumn.
Happiest is fertile, moist but free draining to well drained soil; care should be taken to avoid excessive drought in summer.
To keep the plant looking its best, trim it back in midsummer to remove any spent stems and keep the plant compact. This, in turn, will lead to a whole new flush of flowers to keep the many visiting bees happy.
