Symphyotrichum novi-belgii 'Janet McMullen'
Height x Spread: 80cm x 60cm
This herbaceous perennial which hails from the USA has simple lanceolate leaves of mid green on strong erect stems. The lilac, fully double flowers have a central yellow disk that changes to a reddish orange once pollinated.
A magnet for bees and other pollinators, this plant is best situated in full sun and free draining soil of any pH. It is important to allow these plants a little space to enable good airflow as this along with sharp drainage will discourage mildew.
Flowering from late summer into autumn, this plant is fully hardy in the UK as long as it does not become waterlogged. Ideal for cut flowers, containers, beds and borders and makes a great addition to city, courtyard, cottage, informal, coastal and wildlife gardens.
