Symphyotrichum novi-belgii 'Neron'
Height x Spread: 80cm x 50cm
This rather special Michaelmas daisy is highly sought after for the masses of rich pinky-red double flowers with golden yellow centres that burst forth as the days start to shorten in autumn, lasting until the end of October. Upright and highly branched, with small dark green foliage, it is the intensity of the colour that draws the eye, nothing else is quite like it.
Perfect for adding a punch of late season colour to a mixed border, it combines brilliantly with ornamental grasses, Rudbeckia fulgida var speciosa and other late flowering perennials such as Vernonia. Tough, hardy and strong growing, it does benefit from being divided every three years. It thrives in a fertile, moist but well-cultivated soil in full sun.
