Onopordum acanthium

Commonly known as Cotton Thistle, this robust upright biennial is an imposingly beautiful architectural plant. Oblong spiny silvery-leaves appear on this thistle. Thistle-like rounded pink-purple flower heads during summer.

When planting in your borders ensure you choose a sunny situation with a well-drained soil.

Remember this plant is a biennial. Collect seed to sow in containers in either the autumn or spring, alternatively allow to self-seed in situ.
