If you are looking for something special to light up your winter garden, Helleborus x hybridus 'Magic Double Picotee' may fit the bill.  Its blooms are simply gorgeous.  Each is formed from three layers of elegant petals with delicate dark veining that encircle a central boss of pale lime green stamens, like a gently ruffled cravat. 

Flowering from December to March, these are produced in a range of soft colours from whites and creams to dusky pinks that glow against its lush evergreen foliage.  Happiest in part shade to shade in a free draining non-acidic soil, it is a 'must-have' for a north facing bed or winter container, its leaves acting as a foil throughout the year for later flowering plants.
