Paeonia 'Starlight'

One of the earliest paeonies to bloom, often in early May, 'Starlight has delicious creamy-yellow flowers each with a bold centre choc-full of golden yellow stamens that are held on sturdy shorter stems above billowing mounds of deeply cut foliage.  Emerging red from the ground before turning green its spring foliage provides a fine background for lime, pale cream or purple flowering bulbs.

Like other herbaceous paeonies, it loves a humus-rich, moist but free draining soil in the sun or light shade, where it will attract both bees and butterflies alike.  The perfect addition to a cottage garden border, make room for it in your cutting garden too as it lasts well in arrangements.
