Papaver orientale 'Patty's Plum'
Height x Spread: 80cm x 60cm
Slender stems bearing green buds rise during early summer, these buds burst to reveal blousy, plum coloured flowers. Each petal with a slightly ruffled margin has a black blotch at its base. The bowl-shaped flowers fade in colour as they mature. Hirsute, featherlike divided leaves sit beneath the flower stems, normally this foliage will die away after flowering and reappear in early autumn.
This Oriental Poppy is a great addition to flower beds and borders, however it may need some support. Sheltered, sunny spots are perfect for 'Patty's Plum', along with any reasonably good soil. This poppy was discovered in 1990 at the nursery of Patricia Marrow.
