Paradisea lusitanica
Height x Spread: 120cm x 50cm
This is a robust, clump forming perennial with tall stems and fragrant, white, trumpet shaped flowers. Native to Spain and Portugal, where it grows in damp meadows, it will cope well in almost any soil or pH, as long as the soil remains moist but well drained.
It produces a basal rosette and tall stems with lanceolate, green leaves up to 40cm in length. The flowers bloom throughout the summer and are white, trumpet shaped and fragrant.
Best in full sun or dappled shade, in a spot that is sheltered from the wind, they make excellent cut flowers and add a touch of architectural elegance to any planting scheme.
Ideal for woodland, wildlife, cottage, informal, city and courtyard gardens as well as your borders. Deadhead regularly to encourage the production of new stems and flowers. Hardy down to-10 degrees C, the clumps of established plants can be divided in autumn or spring.
