                                    Physostegia virginiana 'Vivid'
Height x Spread: 90cm x 60cm
From late summer into autumn 'Vivid' puts on an eyecatching display of tall, pale mauve flower spikes, each densely packed with individual bugle-like flowers with speckled throats, over toothed pointed light green leaves.
It looks particularly stunning planted in drifts through a cottage garden or mixed border, adding naturalistic vertical punctuation. Useful for adding colour over the sometimes challenging August period, when earlier flowering perennials have finished, it goes on to combine beautifully with Aster and Symphyotrichum in September.
Great for cutting and arranging, its individual blooms stay put once placed, hence its common name 'Obedient Plant'. Plant in either shade or sun, preferably in a moisture-retentive yet free-draining soil.
