Polemonium reptans 'Virginia White'
Height x Spread: 45cm x 45cm
Native to the north eastern states of the USA, this herbaceous perennial makes a mound or clump. It is often referred to as 'Jacobs Ladder' because of the arrangement of its pinnate leaves which loosely resemble a ladder. The flowers appear from from May to July and are white, tubular or cup shaped and held in clusters at the top of the stems.
Fully hardy in the UK, it needs moisture retentive soil of any pH, in part shade but will tolerate more sun as long as the soil conditions are good.
Ideal for shady areas under trees, this plant works well with Lupinus, Brunnera, Primula, Epimedium and ferns. An excellent draw for pollinators.
