Common polypody is a hardy evergreen fern, with creeping rhizomes. It has lance-shaped, almost oblong, deeply cut dark green fronds, which are ladder-like in their appearance.
Plant in a moist, fertile, neutral to slightly acidic soil in either full sun or partial shade.
