Salvia pratensis 'Royal Crimson Distinction'PBR
Height x Spread: 50cm x 30cm
Rings of rich dark crimson flowers pack the willowy reddish green stems of this Salvia cultivar, flowering in early summer over aromatic green foliage.
Slightly informal in habit, it looks beautiful planted in drifts through a wildlife or gravel garden, attracting bees and butterflies in droves. Or use it in a mixed border combined with jewel colours such as lime greens and deep purples to highlight its unusual hue. Although an excellent cut flower, resist the temptation to cut it back in autumn as the stems look stunning dusted with frost in the winter. It thrives in full sun to partial shade in a reasonable, free draining soil.
