Salvia 'Dyson's Joy'
Height x Spread: 60cm x 60cm
We have all been drawn to 'Dyson's Joy's' very pretty bi-coloured flowers. Tubular in form, each bloom comprises upper petals of a rich mid pink above two lower pale pink lip-like petals, a dainty pink confection further highlighted by the dark reddish-purple sepals that secure it to the stem.
Compact in size, it nevertheless puts on an impressive show, punching high above its weight. With regular deadheading it will keep flowering from mid summer into autumn. Ideal as a signature plant in a hot sunny planter, why not also use it to line the edge of a path, its familiar scent being released every time you brush past the foliage. Easy to combine with other colours in the garden it needs a sheltered spot in full sun and a well-drained soil with protection from cold wet winters to thrive.
