Saxifraga Southside Seedling Group (8)
Height x Spread: 45cm x 30cm
Masses of small, starry flowers with white petals, blotched red at their base, are held in clusters on arching stems above a slowly advancing mat of evergreen rosettes with light green leaves.
This prolific Saxifraga flowers from late spring into summer, completely transforming the plant's architectural look into a starry froth of flowers. To appreciate it at it's best, grow it in a gravel or rock garden, or in a trough above ground level. It grows well in sun or partial shade in very free draining, non-acidic soil, that is fairly fertile, if the roots are kept moist.
